Formally Chesterton Golf Club, Bicester Country Club was founded in 2000 by Mr Graham Payne. Graham bought the course with the inspiration to turn it into the breathtaking club that it is today.
The parkland course located at Chesterton was originally laid down in the 1970s so the trees have had a long period to mature. A further planting of 1,500 trees and shrubs enhances this parkland course which spans the 145 acre site. The original cow shed was converted into the Clubhouse and many of the original members have remained loyal to the club and continued the camaraderie spirit that was born here and remains an intrinsic part of the club today. Upon purchasing the club, Graham Payne changed the name from Chesterton to Bicester in order to appeal to a wider geographical, demographic and associate, with the exciting growth and expansion that is planned for this attractive and historical market town. 2000-2002 saw the addition of further acreage upgrading the par 72 course from 6,229 yards to 6,386 yards. 5 new strategically placed lakes and mounding provide interest and challenges to the discerning golfer. Each hole has a signature and the addition of drainage and sprinkler systems means that the course is among the most constantly available in the county.
2003-2004 saw the build of the Health and Fitness facilities. The 28,000 sq. ft complex has been referred to as "one of Britain’s most hi-tech and luxurious spas”. It offers an 80 station exercise theatre with the latest cardiovascular and resistance machines, designated weights, stretch and spin areas and a 12 metre glass wall affording the most spectacular rural views. Alongside all this technology is the human element of which we are very proud. Our staff are constantly available to help and advise members with their individual programmes or any health query they may have and we also run a full programme of classes, ranging from aerobics to pilates in the two dedicated studios.
Complimentary therapists have joined the team to extend our offering for our clients to fulfil the concept of personal responsibility for health through sport. If you feel good on the inside then we can help you look good on the outside. Beauty treatments and therapies are administered by fully trained Elemis and Caci therapists in our salon, The Forest of Wellbeing. Specific Spa days are detailed in a dedicated brochure and combine with the superbly designed 20 metre swimming pool and other wet side facilities, which includes a16 seater Jacuzzi, pummelling Hydro Spa, spacious Steam Room and Sauna and Tropicariums in both the ladies and gents changing rooms.
